Game Recap: Mount Marty vs. Doane (NE) - October 28, 2023

In a hard-fought matchup, Mount Marty faced off against Doane (NE) on October 28, 2023. The game took place at Doane's home field in Crete, Nebraska, and it turned out to be a closely contested battle that went down to the wire. Mount Marty is now  3-7 overall and 2-7 in the GPAC.

The extra point by Maxwell Welch was good, giving Mount Marty an early 7-0 advantage. Second Quarter: The second quarter saw some momentum shift towards Doane (NE). While Mount Marty's Issac Crownover blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown, the extra point was missed, making the score 20-0 in favor of Mount Marty. However, Doane (NE) managed to put points on the board with a 41-yard field goal by Kelen Meyer. A 45-yard touchdown pass from Cruz Kirwan to Karsen Reimers, followed by another successful Meyer field goal from 25 yards, brought Doane (NE) closer. The score at halftime stood at 20-13, still in favor of Mount Marty.

Third Quarter: In the third quarter, the only scoring came from Doane (NE). They registered a safety, which contributed two points to their total. Mount Marty maintained a narrow lead, 20-15, heading into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter: The fourth quarter was a defensive battle, with neither team able to put any points on the board. The score remained 20-15 in favor of Mount Marty, but Doane (NE) made a late push.

Final Result: Doane (NE) managed to complete a comeback, scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion to take the lead, 21-20. This late surge secured the victory for Doane (NE) in a closely contested game.
