Shelby Baatz has been a part of the Mount Marty community since the Fall of 2021. She was named the Head Athletic Trainer at Mount Marty in November of 2022 where she holds her responsibilities with the Volleyball, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Golf and Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams. Shelby graduated from Augustana University’s MSAT graduate program in the Spring of 2020. Over her 5 years at Augustana, she found herself absorbing hands-on and clinical education in the classroom, Athletic Training Room and a variety of sporting exposure. Shelby spent her final 2-years as the Graduate Assistant for the Football team at Augustana and traveled to Pueblo, Colorado with the team for their 1st Round Conference Playoff Game. Shelby was the President of the Student Athletic Training Association for 2 years at Augustana and received high praises from her classmates and preceptors both in the classroom and on the job. Shelby became a BOC certified Athletic Trainer in 2021 and is licensed in the state of South Dakota. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), holds her BLS and CPR certification through the American Heart Association and is a Certified Yoga Instructor.

Sarah Shippy began her athletic training experience during her undergraduate education at the University of South Dakota. There she worked with their Sports Medicine staff, assisting with the Coyote’s football team. From there, she then completed an internship with the Syracuse Orange football team before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Sport Management with a specialization in Exercise Science. She continued her education to receive a Master of Arts in Athletic Training degree at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. There she gained professional experience in multiple diverse settings, most notably with UNO’s Division 1 men’s hockey team and an internship with the Omaha Lancers USHL hockey team. Sarah currently serves as Head Football Athletic Trainer and resides in the Yankton Community.

Brooke Bleeker, ATC:

Brooke Bleeker was named an assistant athletic trainer prior to the 2023-24 academic year. Bleeker works primarily with the soccer, women's basketball, and softball programs at Mount Marty. Prior to joining the staff at Mount Marty, Bleeker worked at Augustana University as an assistant athletic trainer assigned with the football, baseball, and swimming programs from 2021-2023. During her time there, she implemented movement assessments, rehabilitation programs, and prevention strategies. She received the 2022 South Dakota Athletic Training Association Iron Will Award. She covered events such as the Augie XC Twilight Invitational, Augie Swim Invitational, and the 2023 NCAA DII Baseball World Series. In the fall of 2020, Bleeker was an assistant athletic trainer at Dordt University in Sioux Center, IA. She primarily covered the volleyball, cross country, and track/field programs. During her time there, she covered the 2020 GPAC XC Championship. Bleeker, a 2020 MSAT graduate at Augustana, spent the 2019-20 athletic year as a graduate intern with the Augustana football, swimming, and baseball teams. The 2018-20 school year, she was a recipient of the Dr. Jeffrey Behrens Scholarship. Bleeker obtained her B.A. degree in Exercise Science in 2018 at Augustana where she was a four-year member of the Augustana University CIVITAS Honors Program and an athlete on the women's soccer team. Bleeker became a BOC certified athletic trainer in 2020 and is licensed in the state of South Dakota. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and holds certifications through American Heart Association (CPR), Owens Recovery Science Institute (BFR), and National Council for Mental Wellbeing (Mental Health First Aid).

Colin Muth:

Colin Muth received a bachelor's degree at Mount Marty University in Exercise Science in 2020 and proceeded to achieve his Masters of Science degree at Augustana University in 2023. Just prior to going to Augustana University, COVID allowed Muth to use a COVID redshirt for baseball and helped start Mount Marty University’s first football program as an graduate assistant overseeing the linebackers and assisting in developing a foundation for the new program. Muth played baseball at Mount Marty University for five years. He was a four time team captain and lettered three times athletically and two years academically. Muth was also the president of the Exercise Science club for two years. Muth is an assistant Athletic Trainer at Mount Marty University and works with Football, Men’s and Women’s Track & Field, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Archery, and Dance & Cheer.
