YANKTON -- Mount Marty was able to build a 26-22 lead at halftime to carry them to a 54-50 victory over the Hastings Broncos in a GPAC contest Saturday afternoon. This win gave MMU a split season with the Broncos, and snapped the Broncos' 4-game winning streak over the team. The Lancers are now 7-17 on the season, 4-14 in GPAC play after this win.
The Lancers were able to capitalize on turnovers, outscoring the Broncos 17-9 on turnovers. MMU was able to force Hastings to turn the ball over 18 times in the game.
Mount Marty had three different plays hit double-digits in scoring to lead them to the victory. Both
Eve Millar and
Kaela Martinez put up 12 points in the game to lead the team.
Briona Jensen followed with 11 points.
Martinez was 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the game. She also had rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block against the Broncos. Millar had seven rebounds and three steals. Jensen led the team in rebounds, grabbing eight in the game.
Mount Marty plays again on Wednesday in Sioux Center, Iowa against #4 Dordt University in a conference matchup. This game will begin at 6:00 PM, with the Men's team to follow.
