YANKTON, SD -- Mount Marty hosed the #13 Northwestern Red Raiders in a GPAC contest on Tuesday evening. The Lancers dropped both games to NWC, with the scores being 6-2 and 13-3. Mount Marty is now 16-19 on the season and 9-11 in conference play.
Game One
The Raiders were able to grab a quick, getting up 4-0 after the first two innings. They added two more runs in the fourth to extend the score to 6-0.
Mount Marty's two runs happened in the bottom of the sixth inning. The first run came from
Bailey Kortan's in-the-park home run, marking it as Bailey's second HR of the season.
Abigail Page was able to help add to the score after singling to left-center field to bring home
Autumn Porter.Â
Makayla Graunke (7-10) started in the circle for the Lancers and is given the loss. After throwing five innings, Graunke gave up five earned runs on seven hits and collected two strikeouts.
Hannah Keith closed out the last two inning, giving up zero runs on two hits.Â
Six Lancers collected a hit in the first game, with
Lilinoe Nihi getting the only double for the team.Â
Game 2
The score stayed at 0-0 throughout the first two innings of the game, until NWC put up two runs after homering in the third inning. Mount Marty quickly tied it up in the following inning after
Bailey Kortan hit her second home run of the day, making it her third on the season.Â
Northwestern added three more runs in fifth inning, and a total of eight runs between the sixth and seventh. MMU added their last run in the sixth inning after
Abigail Page singled to bring home Kortan. Kortan reached based with a triple.Â
McKenzie Gray (7-8)Â started for MMU and is credited with the loss after thorwing the first five and two-thirds innings. Gray picked up one strikeout, and allowed five earned runs on nine hits.
Madison Kovar closed out the game for MMU.Â

Mount Marty plays their last regular season games this Saturday, where they will be hosting Doane University. The Lancers need to just get one game in order to make the GPAC Conference Tournament for the third year straight.Â
