Mount Marty faced off with the University of Jamestown on Thursday afternoon. The Lancers won a close game 3-2 in nine innings.Â

Mount Marty took the lead late and defeated University of Jamestown 3-2 on Thursday. Â The game was tied at two with MMU batting in the bottom of the eighth when
Bodi Wallar doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides.
Chris Rofe struck out nine, while University of Jamestown pitchers sat down eight.
The Lancers opened up scoring in the second inning. Â A sacrifice bunt by
Will Gardner scored one run for MMU.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, The Lancers tied things up at two when
Braeden Cordes singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Rofe was on the hill for 2023 Mount Marty Varsity. The righty allowed 11 hits and two runs over nine innings, striking out nine and walking zero.
#20 was on the mound for University of Jamestown. The bulldog allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six. Â #18 threw one inning out of the bullpen.
The Lancers saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Â Cordes and Wallar each managed multiple hits for MMU. Â Wallar and Cordes each collected two hits to lead the Lancers. Â MMU didn't commit a single error in the field.
Billy Hancock had the most chances in the field with 11.
University of Jamestown tallied 11 hits.  #18, #17, and #3 each had multiple hits for University of Jamestown.  University of Jamestown was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. #8 made the most plays with  nine.

Mount Marty will play Doane University on Friday May 5th starting at 9 AM. If the Lancers win they will wait to play until Saturday. If the Lancers lose they will play again at 3 PM on Friday.Â
