Mount Marty played a pair of Iowa GPAC teams over the weekend. The Lancers lost both matches 3-0 on Friday and Saturday. Mount Marty is now 9-13 overall and 2-6 in the GPAC.

The game kicked off with a highly competitive first set. Mount Marty displayed solid attacking skills, managing 10 kills out of 34 attempts, albeit facing stiff resistance from Dordt's defense. Julia Weber, a standout player, displayed her prowess with 10 kills and crucial assists, ensuring a close contest throughout the set. However, Dordt managed to edge out Mount Marty, clinching the first set with a score of 27-25.

Mount Marty's fighting spirit persisted into the second set, with the team adapting and refining their strategies. Adisyn Indahl, another key player, showcased her attacking abilities, securing 8 kills in this set alone. Despite their efforts, Dordt's strong offensive play and effective blocking kept Mount Marty at bay. The set ended with Dordt securing a 25-16 victory.

The third set saw Mount Marty striving to stage a comeback. They showed resilience, upping their attacking game with 11 kills, but Dordt's defense remained steadfast. The efforts of players like Jaycee Fisher, Gabby Miller, and Aubrey Herbolsheimer shone through, attempting to turn the tide in their favor. However, Dordt maintained their momentum and emerged victorious with a final set score of 25-22.

The game began with an intense first set, where Mount Marty fought hard but faced tough opposition from Northwestern's offensive prowess. Julia Weber emerged as a standout player, showcasing her attacking skills with 12 kills and demonstrating exceptional determination on the court. However, Northwestern's well-coordinated plays and effective blocking tactics ultimately gave them the edge, and they secured the first set with a score of 25-12.

In the second set, Mount Marty continued to battle, striving to regain momentum. Despite a valiant effort from Adisyn Indahl and Aubrey Herbolsheimer, Northwestern's defense remained strong, thwarting Mount Marty's attacking attempts. The set concluded with Northwestern securing a 25-20 victory.

Mount Marty showcased their never-give-up attitude in the third set, with Adisyn Indahl and Jaycee Fisher leading the offensive charge. However, Northwestern's solid teamwork and strong net play posed a significant challenge. Mount Marty fought to the end but ultimately fell short, with Northwestern closing the set at 25-14, sealing their 3-0 victory.

Mount Marty will host Morningside on Friday October 6th for a GPAC matchup starting with JV at 6:00 and Varsity to follow at 7:30 PM. On October 7th the Lancers will host Briar Cliff at 3:00 PM Varsity and JV at 1:30 PM. The 7th will be kids night where all youth kids get in free.
