Game One (MMU 3, BVU 4)
In a very competitive game, the Mount Marty University Lancers faced off against the Buena Vista Beavers at the ASB Sports Complex in Sioux Center, IA. The game ended with Buena Vista claiming a narrow victory over Mount Marty with a final score of 4-3.
Buena Vista started strong, scoring 2 runs in the second inning, taking an early lead. Mount Marty managed to respond with a run in the fourth inning, narrowing the gap. However, Buena Vista added 2 more runs in the fifth inning, extending their lead to 4-1.
Mount Marty showed resilience in the later part of the game, mounting a comeback with 2 runs scored in the sixth inning, but fell short of beating Buena Vista, resulting in a final score of 4-3.Â
Key offensive players for Mount Marty were Olivia Valdez, who stood out with 2 RBIs and Abby Johnson, who tallied 1 hit and 1 run. On the Buena Vista side, J. Garcia and E. Haines contributed crucial hits and RBIs to their team's score.
Jacey Hayen took the loss for Mount Marty, pitching 4 innings and conceding 2 runs. K. Claycomb pitched 5.2 solid innings for Buena Vista, allowing 3 runs, while R. Garner closed out the game effectively.Â

Game Two (MMU 12, BVU 1)
In game two, the Mount Marty University Lancers displayed an outstanding performance in their matchup against the Buena Vista Beavers. With a final score of 12-1, the Lancers dominated both on the mound and at the plate, dominating every aspect of the game.
Pitcher McKenzie Gray was instrumental in Mount Marty's victory, delivering a stellar performance on the mound. Over the course of 6 innings, Gray demonstrated great control and skill, allowing only 1 run while striking out 7 batters. Her ability to keep Buena Vista's offense at bay set the Lancers up for success.Â
Offensively, the Lancers came out swinging early, creating a strong lead with a combination of solid hits and aggressive base running. Autumn Porter and Raegan Harper had 2 stolen bases each, while Ella Ray had 1. Raegan Harper also set the tone at the top of the lineup, collecting 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI to ignite Mount Marty's offense. Janeah Castro and Autumn Porter also made significant contributions, with both of them tallying 1 hit, 1 run, and 2 RBI's to extend the Lancers' lead.
Defensively, Mount Marty had solid fielding and great decision making, committing 0 errors the entire game, limiting Buena Vista's scoring opportunities. Every player on the Lancers defense executed their roles effectively. Buena Vista struggled to generate any momentum throughout the game.
Despite Buena Vista's efforts for a comeback, Mount Marty maintained their dominance until the final out, securing the victory.
The Lancers will be back in action in Davenport, Iowa at the Saint Ambrose University Dome Tournament on Saturday Feb. 17th and Sunday Feb. 18th.
