Game One
Midland Holds off Mount Marty in Close 4-3 Victory
In a tightly contested game, Midland emerged victorious with a 4-3 win over Mount Marty.
The scoring began in the third inning when Midland's Joshua Hardamon reached first base on an error by the third baseman, allowing Yealex Lopez to score, giving Midland a 1-0 lead.
Mount Marty responded in the fourth inning with a strong offensive showing. Vaughn Deming doubled down the left field line, bringing in Evan Bock and Kiko Nunez to give Mount Marty a 2-1 lead. Aidan Chang then hit a sacrifice fly to center field, extending Mount Marty's lead to 3-1.
However, Midland fought back in the sixth inning. Joshua Hardamon homered to right center field, cutting Mount Marty's lead to 3-2. Then, Connor Petersen hit a clutch two-run homer to left field, scoring Alec Villanueva and putting Midland ahead 4-3.
Despite Mount Marty's efforts, they couldn't muster another rally, and Midland held on for the win.
Pitching played a crucial role in Midland's victory, with Jay Lambert, Michael Crump, Cody Kent, and Darius Blasingane combining efforts on the mound.
With this win, Midland improved to 21-8 on the season, while Mount Marty's record fell to 17-13.
Game Two
Mount Marty Holds Off Midland in High-Scoring Contest
In a thrilling game filled with offensive fireworks, Mount Marty emerged victorious with a 13-10 win over Midland.
Mount Marty got off to a quick start in the first inning, scoring two runs thanks to a single by Kiko Nunez, who advanced to second on an error by the center fielder, allowing Will Gardner and Aidan Chang to score.
Midland responded in the bottom of the first with Joshua Hardamon's RBI single, bringing Yealex Lopez home to narrow the gap to 2-1.
Mount Marty extended their lead in the second inning when Shugo Kondo blasted a solo home run to right field, making it 3-1.
The scoring continued in the fifth inning as Bodi Wallar hit a two-run homer, followed by Ethan Wishon's RBI single for Mount Marty. However, Midland fought back with Hadyn Crawford's three-run homer in the bottom of the inning, tying the game at 6-6.
In the sixth inning, Garrett Freeman's two-run homer put Midland ahead 8-6, but Mount Marty responded strongly in the seventh. Kiko Nunez's fielder's choice and RBI by Wishon and Kondo put Mount Marty back in the lead at 10-8.
Crawford's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh tied the game once again at 10-10, but Mount Marty surged ahead in the ninth. Kondo and Gardner both homered, pushing Mount Marty's lead to 13-10.
Despite a late effort by Midland in the bottom of the ninth, Mount Marty held on for the win.
Pitching struggled for both teams, with Mount Marty's Zach Hegge, Cade Sudbeck, Myles Brown, and Clayton Chipchase combining efforts on the mound, while Cole Hupke, Tyler Dunham, Cody Kent, Owen Kelley, and Darius Blasingane pitched for Midland.
With this victory, Mount Marty improved to 18-13 on the season, while Midland's record fell to 21-9.
