Morningside (Iowa) Claims 6-4 Victory Over Mount Marty
In a competitive matchup, Morningside (Iowa) secured a 6-4 victory over Mount Marty.
Mount Marty got on the board first in the opening inning when Kayleen Jacinto doubled to center field, bringing in Raegan Harper to score. However, Morningside responded strongly in the bottom of the inning, with Mackenna Sidzyik scoring on a fielder's choice, followed by Josie Hernandez's two-RBI double and Bralen Biddlecome's RBI double, giving them a 4-1 lead.
Mount Marty narrowed the gap in the second inning when Raegan Harper's fielder's choice allowed Abby Johnson and Sami Noble to score, making it 4-3. But Morningside extended their lead in the fifth inning with Kennedee Jones's two-run homer, pushing the score to 6-3.
Mount Marty fought back in the seventh inning, with Elisabeth McGill's RBI single bringing in Olivia Valdez, but they couldn't complete the comeback, falling short with a final score of 6-4.
Despite Mount Marty's efforts, Morningside's early offensive surge proved decisive in securing the victory.
