In a head to head non-conference matchup, the Mount Marty University Lancers battled to a 1-1 tie against the Briar Cliff University Chargers on September 13, 2024, at Crane Youngworth Field in Yankton, SD. Both teams played a hard-fought game in front of great hometown crowd, with neither side able to claim victory after 90 minutes.

The Chargers struck first in the 56th minute when Leitcia Heemann found the back of the net off an assist from Addison Frisch, giving Briar Cliff a 1-0 lead. Mount Marty responded in the 71st minute when Alessandra Lopez scored on a penalty kick, leveling the game 1-1.

Despite relentless efforts from both teams, with Briar Cliff dominating offensively with 22 shots (13 on target) compared to Mount Marty's 5 shots (3 on target), the scoreline remained tied. Mount Marty's goalkeepers, Caitlin Guerra and Brooklyn McNac, combined for 12 saves to keep the Lancers in the game. Jaime Rowlands of Briar Cliff made saves, holding the Lancers at bay.

The Lancers move to 3-2-1, while the Chargers remain winless at 0-4-1. Mount Marty will be back in action at home this Wednesday, September 18th at 5PM versus Dakota Wesleyan University to kick off "Lancer Days", MMU's homecoming celebration.
