YANKTON, S.D. — The Mount Marty men's soccer team fell 2–0 to Morningside University on Sunday afternoon at Crane Youngworth Field. Despite a solid defensive effort and multiple scoring chances, the Lancers were unable to break through against a strong Mustang side.
Morningside struck early in the 18th minute and added an insurance goal late in the second half to secure the win. Goalkeeper Esteban Gomez turned in a strong performance for Mount Marty, recording nine saves while facing 11 shots on goal.
Offensively, the Lancers generated nine total shots, including six on target. Oliver Danzer and Andreas Socratous each put quality attempts on frame, while Arthur Rodriguez also tested the Mustang keeper.
Mount Marty moves to 2-5-2 overall and 0-3-2 in GPAC play. The Lancers will be back in action Wednesday October 15, when they host Doane University kickoff slated for 5 PM.
