ORANGE CITY, Iowa — The Mount Marty women's tennis team fell 6-1 on the road Friday afternoon against Northwestern (Iowa).
The Red Raiders took control early by sweeping doubles play, earning wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Azul Medina Lobos and Luisa De Lama dropped their top-flight match 6-1, while Alexa Salazar and Camila Lopez fell 6-3 at the No. 2 position.
In singles action, Northwestern secured straight-set victories at the top three spots to clinch the match. De Lama fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, Medina Lobos dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 2, and Salazar was defeated 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
The highlight of the day came at No. 4 singles, where Camila Lopez battled through a three-set thriller. After dropping the opening set 6-3, Lopez responded with a 7-5 win in the second set before edging Alloree Else in a super tiebreaker 10-7 to give the Lancers their lone point of the match.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — The Mount Marty men's tennis team came up just short in a hard-fought road contest Friday evening, falling 4-3 to Northwestern (Iowa).
The Red Raiders grabbed momentum in doubles play by sweeping the top two flights. Lucas Latil and Alejandro Polo fell 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Gonzalo Medina and Ignacio Gomez pushed Northwestern to the wire before dropping a tight 7-6(2) decision at No. 2.
In singles action, the Lancers bounced back with three strong performances. Lucas Latil earned a straight-sets win at No. 2, taking down Samy Khiyara 7-6, 6-2. Marcos Moreno followed with a dominant 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 5, and Mount Marty's third point came from Latil's teammate at the top of the lineup. However, Northwestern secured the clinching points at the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 singles positions. Polo fell 6-2, 6-3 at the top spot, Medina dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 3, and Gomez was defeated 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4.
