Lancers Dominate Briar Cliff, Secure Convincing Home Win

The Mount Marty University (MMU) men's basketball team delivered a commanding performance on their home court, defeating Briar Cliff University (BCU) 80-65 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup on December 6, 2025.

The Lancers (4-6, 4-2 GPAC) improved their overall record and pulled ahead in conference play with a strong offensive effort and balanced scoring. Briar Cliff (6-5, 3-3 GPAC) struggled to keep pace, especially in the first half.

Key Game Highlights

Mount Marty established control early, building a significant lead in the first half and heading into halftime with a 44-29 advantage. The Lancers maintained their intensity in the second half, matching the Chargers' scoring with 36 points apiece to seal the 15-point victory.

The Lancers' offense was highly efficient, shooting 53.7% from the field (29-54) and an impressive 41.2% from beyond the arc (7-17). Their free-throw shooting was also solid at 71.4% (15-21). Briar Cliff shot 50.0% from the field but struggled from the free-throw line, converting only 65.0% (13-20) of their attempts.

The Lancers were led by a stellar night from Deegan Williams, who put up a game-high 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 1-of-1 from three-point range, and added 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

Other key contributors included:

  • Jake Jensen: Posted 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

  • Sutton Arend: Scored 11 points and tied for the team high with 6 rebounds.

Briar Cliff's Efforts

The Chargers' scoring effort was paced by Colby Collison with 16 points, who was effective from deep, hitting 4-of-9 three-pointers. Blake Sindelar added 12 points and led the team with 4 rebounds. Jaxson Wingert also reached double-digits with 9 points and 2 rebounds.

Briar Cliff struggled with turnovers, committing 18 compared to Mount Marty's 7.
