Game Recap: Hastings Cruises Past Mount Marty, 90-52

Hastings, NE – February 5, 2025 – A dominant performance by Hastings saw them defeat Mount Marty 90-52 in GPAC women's basketball action.

First Half: Hastings Sets the Tone

Hastings jumped out to an early 22-8 lead in the first quarter, fueled by Mariyah Avila's sharp shooting and an aggressive defensive effort. Mount Marty struggled to find an offensive rhythm, shooting just 31.1% from the field for the game.

The Lancers improved in the second quarter, scoring 18 points, but still trailed 41-26 at halftime. Sidney Thue led Mount Marty with 9 points and 6 rebounds at the break, while Hastings' McKenna Yates and Ann Bose combined for 16 first-half points.

Third Quarter: Hastings Breaks it Open

Hastings came out of halftime firing on all cylinders, outscoring Mount Marty 31-11 in the third quarter. Their balanced attack saw multiple players contribute, including Bose (18 points, 4-5 FT) and Avila (14 points, 2-4 3PT). Hastings shot 45.1% from the field and dominated the glass, grabbing 55 total rebounds compared to Mount Marty's 40.
