Softball: Lancers Dominate In Home Opener

Mount Marty Dominates Dakota State, 10-2

March 11, 2025 – Yankton, SD – Mount Marty's offense erupted for 14 hits, while the pitching staff held Dakota State to just one hit in a 10-2 run-rule victoryKayleen Jacinto led the charge, driving in three runs and launching a solo home run in the sixth to cap off the dominant performance.

Game Recap:

Dakota State struck first in the opening inning after Hannah McFarland scored on an error, but Mount Marty responded in the third with Jacinto's two-run double to take a 2-1 lead.

From there, the Lancers' offense caught fire, scoring eight runs over the next three inningsLilinoe Nihi's RBI single in the fourth extended the lead before a four-run fifth inning—highlighted by sacrifice flies from Janeah Castro and Abby Johnson, plus a run-scoring double from Brooklyn Townsend—put Mount Marty in full control.

Jacinto sealed the deal in the sixth with a towering solo home run, followed by a wild pitch and an RBI double from Johnson, securing the 10-2 victory via run rule.
