Softball: Lancers Sweep CSM In GPAC Play

Mount Marty Holds Off College of Saint Mary for 3-2 Win

OMAHA, NE – Behind a dominant performance from pitcher McKenzie Gray and key offensive contributions from Abby Johnson and Olivia Valdez, Mount Marty secured a 3-2 victory over College of Saint Mary.

Lancers Strike Early
Mount Marty wasted no time getting on the board as Janeah Castro delivered an RBI single in the first inning to score Abby Johnson. In the second, Olivia Valdez doubled down the left-field line to bring in Alyssa Sosky, extending the lead to 2-0.

After a scoreless stretch, Johnson added an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.

Gray Dominates, Lancers Hold On
McKenzie Gray was stellar on the mound, tossing a complete game while allowing just four hits, striking out 11, and surrendering no earned runs.

College of Saint Mary threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Amber Kosmicki's two-run single cut the deficit to 3-2. However, Gray regrouped to shut the door and seal the win.

OMAHA, NE – Mount Marty's offense exploded early, and a trio of pitchers kept College of Saint Mary in check as the Lancers secured an 11-4 victory to sweep the doubleheader.

Big Third Inning Fuels Lancers
Mount Marty jumped out to an early lead, scoring in each of the first three innings. The third inning proved to be the turning point as the Lancers capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to put up a six-run frame.

The Lancers padded their lead in the later innings with Janeah Castro's solo home run in the sixth and Alyssa Sosky's blast in the seventh, sealing the 11-4 victory.
