Lancers Explode Offensively, Run Past Mayville State 14-6
Yankton, S.D. – Mount Marty Baseball used a relentless offensive attack and aggressive baserunning to take down Mayville State, 14-6, on Wednesday afternoon at Riverside Field.
The Lancers tallied 10 hits and 11 stolen bases, putting up 11 runs between the 4th and 5th inningsto break open a tight contest.
Owens Ignites the Offense
Junior center fielder Jalen Owens continued his hot streak, going 3-for-3 with a double, home run, 3 RBIs, 4 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases. Owens scored the go-ahead run in the third and later launched a two-run homer to cap off a six-run fifth inning.

Lancers Explode Offensively to Win 13–8 Over Mayville State
Yankton, S.D. — April 9, 2025
Mount Marty University used a relentless offensive outburst in the middle innings to power past Mayville State 13–8 in a high-scoring contest at Riverside Field on Wednesday afternoon.
After falling behind 4–0 in the top of the first, the Lancers responded in a big way, plating five runs in the second and six more in the third to seize control. Senior outfielder Will Gardner continued his torrid stretch at the plate, launching two home runs and driving in three runs, including a two-run blast in the second inning that kick-started the comeback.
Tyler Vance added his own two-run homer in the fifth as part of a three-RBI day, while Daniel Vonnegut had a standout game, going 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and four RBIs. The Lancers pounded out 13 hits, with Jalen Owens (3-for-4, 2 R, RBI, SB) and Cannon Marshall (2-for-3, 2 R, 2B) also contributing in a well-rounded attack.
On the mound, freshman Logan Bobzin earned the win in relief, tossing a scoreless third inning with one strikeout. The Lancers' bullpen combined for five solid innings to hold off the Comets after a four-run first and a three-run homer by Mayville's Kevin Conway in the fourth.
Mount Marty improves to 21–13 (8–8 GPAC) on the season with the win, while Mayville State falls to 11–19 (3–5).
