FREMONT, Neb. – A big day at the plate from Isabelle Pagan helped Midland power past Mount Marty 9–1 in six innings on Monday afternoon.
After two scoreless innings, Midland broke through in the third when Pagan lined a two-run triple to right field, giving the Warriors an early 2–0 lead. Midland poured it on in the fourth, plating four runs highlighted by RBI hits from Ariyana Crafton, Matti Reiling, and Pagan, who continued her huge day with another run-scoring single.
Mount Marty got on the board in the top of the sixth when Ella Ray singled and later scored on an RBI single by Janeah Castro, who advanced to second on a Midland error. However, the Warriors quickly answered in the bottom half. Reiling drove in another run with a groundout before Pagan capped her monster outing with a two-run home run to right center, pushing the lead to 9–1 and ending the game via run rule.
Offensively, Mount Marty managed just four hits, including two from Ray and one each from Kayleen Jacinto and Castro. McKenzie Gray took the loss in the circle, allowing nine runs on nine hits while striking out six across 5.2 innings.
For Midland, Pagan finished 4-for-4 with five RBIs, a triple, and a home run. Campbell Petrick earned the win, pitching six strong innings without allowing an earned run.
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland's offense stayed red-hot in Game 2, pounding out 15 hits en route to a 9–1 win over Mount Marty to complete the sweep on Monday.
The Warriors jumped on top early with a solo home run from Isabelle Pagan in the first inning. They added three more in the second, highlighted by an RBI single from Reese Floro and a two-run double by Matti Reiling. Mount Marty responded in the third when Adrian Schoby reached and later scored on an RBI single up the middle by Abby Johnson, cutting the deficit to 4–1.
Midland answered quickly, tacking on two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-RBI single from Jenna Lemley. Pagan drove in her second run of the game in the fourth, and Kamdyn Barrientos added an RBI single to stretch the lead to 8–1. Barrientos later capped the scoring with another RBI base hit in the sixth to end it early via run rule for the second straight game.
Mount Marty was held to four hits in the contest, one each from Johnson, Kayleen Jacinto, Lilinoe Nihi, and Schoby. Freshman Jacey Hayen took the loss, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits over three innings.
Midland's Paeton Coler was dominant in the circle, tossing six innings without allowing an earned run and striking out one.
