Mount Marty men's soccer opened its 2025 season with a hard-fought battle at Crane-Youngworth Field, but a pair of second-half goals lifted York University past the Lancers, 2–1.
Match Summary
The Lancers struck first in the 13th minute when Sebastian Diaz buried his lone shot on target to give Mount Marty an early 1–0 lead. Mount Marty controlled much of the first-half pace, outshooting York 10–8 before the break.
York responded in the second half. Simao Mendes tied the match in the 54th minute, and just 12 minutes later, Tim Schafer converted off a setup from Alex Hulme, pushing the Panthers ahead 2–1. Despite several late chances, the Lancers could not find an equalizer.
