Box Score St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Mount Marty men's soccer team continued its strong start to the season with a 3-1 road victory over Crown College on Saturday afternoon at Old National Bank Stadium. The win improves the Lancers to 2-2-0 on the year.
Mount Marty opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Zach Hebda found the net off an assist from Lukas Amaya. Crown answered just before halftime, leveling the match at 1-1 on a goal from Ashton Hosler in the 42nd minute.
The Lancers wasted little time regaining control after the break. Just two minutes into the second half, Oliver Danzerburied a shot from close range, again set up by Amaya, to give Mount Marty a 2-1 lead.
The Lancers sealed the result in the 81st minute when Sammuel Badmus converted from the penalty spot, his first goal of the season, making it 3-1.
Statistically, Mount Marty dominated the run of play, outshooting Crown 17-4 overall and 9-2 in shots on goal. Danzer led the team with four shots, while Hebda and Badmus each recorded three. Amaya was a key playmaker with two assists.
In net, Juan Pablo Navia earned the win while facing just two shots on frame, recording one save.
