Football: Lancers Roll Over Tigers

CRETE, Neb. — Powered by a relentless ground game that accumulated 265 rushing yards and a disruptive defensive performance that generated three interceptions, Mount Marty (3-3, 2-3) secured a decisive 36–16 road victory over Doane (NE) (2-3, 1-3) at Memorial Sm/Papik Field.

The Lancers dominated key situational football, winning the time of possession battle (35:58 to 24:02) and converting defense into quick points to notch their third victory of the season.

Key Game Highlights

  • Pick-Six Sets the Tone: After Doane grabbed an early 3–0 lead, Mount Marty answered with a 15-yard touchdown run by quarterback Rugby Ryken late in the first quarter. On the very next play from scrimmage in the second quarter, defensive back Anthony Delguidice intercepted Cannon Crowder's pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown, instantly extending the Lancer lead to 14–3.

  • Dual 100-Yard Rushers: Mount Marty controlled the game at the line of scrimmage with two players breaking the 100-yard rushing barrier:

    • Jordan Anderson: Rushed 19 times for 119 yards (6.3 YPC) while adding 6 receptions for 32 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown catch.

    • Rugby Ryken: Added 107 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries (8.9 YPC) alongside completing 13 of 20 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Red-Zone Reliability: Camden Vance had a productive day for Mount Marty, drilling field goals from 38, 33, and 22 yards to keep the scoreboard moving and ensure Lancer drives finished with points.

  • Fourth-Quarter Finishing Blows: Holding a 23–13 lead entering the fourth quarter, Ryken put the game out of reach with a pair of touchdown passes—a 9-yard strike to Moshe Richmond (5 REC, 90 YDS, 1 TD) followed by a 14-yard touchdown connection with Jordan Anderson.

Defensive Standouts

Mount Marty's defense suffocated the Tigers' offense, holding Doane quarterback Cannon Crowder to just 8-of-27 passing while picking him off three times and recording 3 sacks for 16 yards and 9 tackles for loss.

  • Cole Cripps (MMU): Stood tall in the front seven with a team-high 12 total tackles (6 solo), 2.0 TFLs, and a 12-yard sack.

  • Brock Lubbers (MMU): Racked up 11 total tackles (6 solo), 1.5 TFLs, and a sack.

  • Turnover Force: Interceptions were hauled in by Anthony Delguidice (32-yd TD return), Arturo Estrada (14-yd return), and Gueibondy Doelue (11-yd return).
