Game Recap: Sprakel's 30-Point Masterclass Propels Lancers Over Midland
Date: February 11, 2026 Final Score: Mount Marty 75, Midland 58
If the Mount Marty Lancers (13-12, 8-11 GPAC) were looking for a "get-right" game to ignite their postseason push, they found it Wednesday night at Cimpl Arena. Riding a career-best performance from the interior and a dominant second-half display, the Lancers took care of business against the Midland Warriors to keep their playoff hopes very much alive.
The Story: Taking Control
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to build a significant cushion. Mount Marty held a slim 31-29 lead at the break, but the second half was a completely different story.
The Lancers exploded for 44 points in the final two frames, systematically dismantling the Midland defense. The turning point was a 24-16 third-quarter surge where the Lancers leaned heavily on their height advantage and high-percentage looks. Defensively, they tightened the screws, holding Midland to just 13 points in the final quarter to seal the 17-point victory.
Lancer Standouts
-
Lacey Sprakel: An absolute force in the paint. Sprakel was nearly unstoppable, pouring in a game-high 30 pointson a clinical 13-of-20 shooting performance. When the Lancers needed a bucket to break Midland's momentum, they went to Sprakel, and she delivered.
-
Alexis Folkers: While Sprakel handled the scoring, Folkers dominated the glass. She hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds (10 defensive) to go along with 6 points and 4 assists, playing a team-high 38 minutes.
-
Alyssa Moschell & Alexus Motley: Provided 8 points apiece, with Motley knocking down two crucial three-pointers to stretch the Warriors' zone.
-
Jadyn Jensen: Was a "microwave" off the bench, contributing 6 points and 5 rebounds (4 offensive) in just 8 minutes of action.
Why the Lancers Won
-
Interior Efficiency: The Lancers didn't settle for bad shots. They finished the night shooting 47.6% from the field, significantly out-pacing Midland's 32.7%.
-
Cleaning the Glass: Mount Marty dominated the rebounding battle, 45 to 30. By limiting the Warriors to just 9 offensive rebounds, the Lancers prevented Midland from finding second-chance opportunities to stay in the game.
-
Ball Security: In a remarkably clean game from both sides, Mount Marty committed only 8 turnovers. Protecting the ball allowed them to maximize their possessions and keep the pressure on Midland throughout the second half.
Postseason Outlook: This victory is a major step in the right direction. As we discussed earlier, the Lancers are in a dogfight for that final 8th spot in the GPAC tournament. Winning at home against Midland was a "must-have" to stay in the hunt.
