Lancers Secure 3rd Seed with Win in Seward

Road Warriors! Lancers Secure 3rd Seed with Win in Seward

Date: February 18, 2026

Final Score: Mount Marty 83, Concordia 72

The Mount Marty Lancers (15-10, 13-7 GPAC) put on an offensive clinic Wednesday night, shooting over 50% from the floor to take down Concordia on their home court. With this victory, the Lancers didn't just win a game—they essentially locked up a home-court advantage for the opening round of the GPAC tournament.

The Story: Elite Efficiency and Ball Security

This game was won through sheer discipline. While many road games in the GPAC turn into chaotic shooting struggles, the Lancers were surgically precise. They shot 51.7% from the field and, most impressively, committed only 5 turnoversthe entire night.

By taking care of the basketball and maximizing almost every possession, Mount Marty built a 7-point lead by halftime and never let the Bulldogs truly threaten in the second half. Concordia's 12 turnovers and lower shooting percentage meant they were constantly fighting an uphill battle against a Lancer squad that refused to beat itself.

Lancer Standouts

  • Sutton Arend: Was the best player on the floor. Arend scored a game-high 23 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting. He was a force in the paint and perfect from the free-throw line (4-of-4).

  • Jake Jensen: Provided a massive all-around performance with 17 points and 7 rebounds, knocking down two timely triples to keep the defense honest.

  • Deegan Williams: Nearly flirted with a double-double, finishing with 14 points and a team-high 9 rebounds, while also dishing out 5 assists.

  • Mac Ryken: Exploded off the bench for 13 points, including three 3-pointers that broke the back of the Bulldogs' zone in the first half.

  • Jackson Edman: Chipped in 6 points and 4 assists, showing great vision from the post.

Key Tactical Stats

  • Ball Security: Mount Marty 5 Turnovers, Concordia 12 Turnovers.

  • Field Goal Percentage: Mount Marty 51.7%, Concordia 45.1%.

  • Free Throw Reliability: The Lancers shot 76.2% (16-of-21) to ice the game late.

  • Points in the Paint: Arend and Jensen combined for 40 points, largely dominating the interior.

The Big Picture: This win is a massive statement as the regular season concludes. At 13-7 in the GPAC, the Lancers have proven they can win high-stakes games in hostile environments. They head into the postseason with a high-efficiency offense. The Lancers will have to wait until Saturday to figrure out who they will host for the GPAC quarterfinals. The Lancers could host either Concordia, Dordt, Briar Cliff, or DWU depending on how Saturday's games fall.
