Lancers' Season Ends in Quarterfinals Against Top-Seeded Dordt

SIOUX CENTER, IA – The Mount Marty women's basketball team saw their postseason run come to a halt on Wednesday night, falling 91-63 to the #1-ranked Dordt Defenders in the GPAC Quarterfinals.

Despite a gritty effort from the Lancers, the Defenders' high-powered offense proved why they are the top seed in the tournament. Dordt jumped out to a 30-17 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, fueled by a 50.7% shooting performance from the field and a lethal 12-of-28 mark from beyond the arc.

Lancer Standouts

  • Lacey Sprakel: Led the Lancers with 15 points and 5 rebounds, battling through heavy interior pressure all night.

  • Alexus Motley: Provided a strong presence in the paint, finishing with 12 points and a team-high 8 rebounds(including 4 offensive boards).

  • Alexis Folkers: Contributed 8 points and dished out 3 assists, while also leading the defensive effort with 4 steals.

Key Game Factors

Mount Marty showed flashes of brilliance in the second half, particularly in the third quarter where they maintained offensive pressure, but they were unable to overcome Dordt's efficiency and 91.7% shooting from the free-throw line.

Season Reflections

The Lancers finish the 2025-26 campaign with a 15-14 overall record. While the loss marks the end of the road, the season was highlighted by a winning overall record and a hard-fought conference schedule that saw the program secure a spot in the GPAC postseason. The Lancers have many things to contiune to build the program up in the coming years!
