Softball: Lancers Split With CSM

The Mount Marty Lancers displayed a resilient spirit in their home doubleheader against the College of Saint Mary, shaking off a high-scoring loss in the opener to dominate the nightcap with a 16-hit offensive explosion.

Game 1: College of Saint Mary 8, Mount Marty 6

The Lancers nearly pulled off a massive comeback after falling behind 6-0 in the second inning. Despite out-hitting the Flames 12-11, the early deficit proved just too large to fully overcome.

  • Sara Ocegueda-Aguilar: Was a force at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double.

  • Lily Bolin: Had a perfect day at the dish, going 2-for-2 with a walk and scoring three of the Lancers' six runs.

  • Kalli Boom: Used her speed and a triple to set the table, scoring twice.

  • Brooklyn Townsend: Provided a spark with an RBI double in the 5th to help pull the Lancers within one run.

  • Madison Justesen: Provided excellent long relief, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing only two earned runs to keep Mount Marty in striking distance.

Game 2: Mount Marty 9, College of Saint Mary 2

The Lancers left no doubt in the second game, racking up 16 hits and pulling away late to secure the split in convincing fashion.

  • Kayleen Jacinto: Was unstoppable, going a perfect 4-for-4. Her performance was highlighted by a two-run home run in the 3rd inning that gave Mount Marty a lead they would never relinquish. She finished the game with 3 RBIs.

  • Kalli Boom: Continued her hot streak, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base.

  • Lainey Van Zee: Did it all, tossing a 7.0-inning complete game while allowing just two runs. She also helped her own cause at the plate with an RBI single.

  • Brigid McGill: Showed off her wheels in the 6th inning, successfully stealing home as part of a double steal.

  • Brooklyn Townsend: Stayed clutch with another RBI double, finishing with 2 RBIs in the nightcap.
