Lancers Post Strong Final Round to Secure Runner-Up Honors at DWU Spring Invitational
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Mount Marty University men's golf program demonstrated its scoring depth this Monday and Tuesday, securing a second-place team finish at the 2026 DWU Spring Invitational. Competing at the Lakeview Municipal GC, the Lancer "A" squad carded a 285 (+1) in the final round to solidify their standing in the 10-team field.
Guus Van Loon led the charge for the Lancers, recording a field-best 69 (-3) on Tuesday to finish 3rd place individually with a three-day total of 218 (+2). The Lancers' "A" squad featured a heavy presence at the top of the player leaderboard, with Hunter Bailey finishing T6 (+4) and Wout Kerkhofs earning a T8 finish (+8). Leo Garcia highlighted the team's Tuesday performance by also shooting a 69 (-3), matching Van Loon for the team's low round of the day.
While the University of Jamestown posted the tournament's low team round with an Even (284) on Tuesday, Mount Marty's consistency across the final two days allowed the "A" squad to finish with a total of +26, placing them ahead of host Dakota Wesleyan and trailing only champions Baker University.
The Mount Marty "B" squad also put together a productive two days of competition, finishing 9th overall. Lane Tvedt paced the developmental side, finishing T26 in the 60-player field, while Cameron Zahrbock, Max Glasheen, Austin Martin, and Carson Pedersen all gained valuable competitive experience for the Lancers.
