ORANGE CITY, Iowa — In a thrilling GPAC battle at De Valois Stadium, Mount Marty (2–1, 1–1) scored 19 unanswered points in the second half, but their dramatic comeback attempt came up just two points short as Northwestern (Iowa) (2–1, 2–0) held on for a 35–33 victory.

Despite spotting Northwestern an early 14–0 lead and falling behind by 15 in the third quarter, the Lancers out-gained the Red Raiders 407 to 401 in total offense and dominated the second-half scoreline before a missed potential game-tying two-point conversion sealed the result.
