John Michaletti – Head Football Coach, Mount Marty University

John Michaletti is entering his fifth season as Head Football Coach at Mount Marty University, a role he assumed in July 2021 after serving as the program's Defensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach.

Coach John Michaletti has built a program defined by both academic achievement and competitive success. Under his guidance, 46 student-athletes have earned Scholar-Athlete honors, and his team has been recognized as a Scholar Team twice. On the field, he has coached 22 players to All-GPAC honors and produced one All-American, a testament to his ability to develop talent at the highest level.

Before joining Mount Marty, Michaletti spent six successful seasons at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas, where he played a key role in building one of the nation’s premier defenses and establishing the program as a national powerhouse. In 2019, the Coyotes posted an impressive 12-1 record, claimed the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Championship, and advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament with a victory over Baker University. His outstanding contributions earned him the KCAC Assistant Football Coach of the Year award in both 2017 and 2019.

Michaletti began his collegiate coaching career at Saint Ambrose University, where he served as Defensive Backs Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach for two seasons. During his tenure, the program achieved a 16-6 record. Over the course of his coaching career, Michaletti has contributed to a combined record of 70-24, consistently demonstrating his ability to develop winning programs.

A native of Rock Island, Illinois, Michaletti was a two-time All-Conference safety at Saint Ambrose University and the inaugural recipient of the Bob Jurevitz Award in 2012. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Saint Ambrose University in 2012 and a Master of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2018.

Michaletti resides in Yankton with his wife, Devin, and their three children: Jack, Scottie, and Ridge.
