Josh Lewis was named as the Offensive Coordinator at Mount Marty University in July of 2021. Coach Lewis will also serve as the Recruiting Coordinator under Head Coach John Michaletti.Â
Prior to his arrival in Yankton, Coach Lewis spent three seasons at Kansas Wesleyan University. During this time, the Coyotes won back-to-back Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) titles in 2018 and 2019. The coyotes won 33 games during Coach Lewis’s time in Salina. Coach Lewis helped guide Kansas Wesleyan to a school-record 13 win season, a #2 national ranking, and an appearance in the Semi-Final of the NAIA Playoffs.Â
Before Coach Lewis began his coaching career, he was a four-year starter at linebacker for Friends University. Lewis received postseason honors from the KCAC in each of those years. He received a second-team selection in 2014 as a freshman before earning three straight selections to the All-KCAC first team (2015-17), to conclude his collegiate playing career. Lewis led the Falcons in tackles in all four seasons. Lewis finished his playing days with an impressive 315 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks.
Along with his on-field accomplishments, Lewis was a consistent performer in the classroom. Lewis was named as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2016 and 2017. Lewis was named to the Academic All-KCAC team three times and he was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2017.Â
Coach Lewis is the son of Monty and Nancy Lewis. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Psychology from Friends University and graduated with his Masters of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University.
