Mount Marty University

M.J. Piranio is in his second season as the Defensive Line Coach at Mount Marty University. Coach Piranio came to Yankton from St. Thomas Aquinas College (N.Y.) where he coached the Running Backs and Offensive Line before taking the job as the Quarterbacks Coach following the season. He also served in various support roles under Head Coach Matthew Barry which included being the Quality Control Coach and the Academic Liaison where he led a full point increase in overall team GPA. Coach Piranio coached four players to postseason honors.

Coach Piranio holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in English, Writing and Rhetoric from Florida Atlantic University. 

Coach Piranio is originally from Washingtonville, New York.  He is a class of 2014 graduate from Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) where he played for New Jersey High School Football legend Greg Toal. He was on the 2011 National Championship team, the 2011 Non-Public Group IV Championship team, and was on three Big North United Championships teams as a player.
