James Knutson (Black Hills State University '17)
James Knutson is entering his first year as a Graduate Assistant Coach after spending the last 6 years working at the high school level as an Activities Director, Teacher, Technology Coordinator and Head Basketball Coach. Knutson spent 5 of his 6 years working at Oelrichs High School in various roles including most recently as the Activities Director and both Head Boys & Girls Basketball Coach. The other year was spent at Lakota Tech High School as the schools first Athletic Director.Â
During the summers, Coach Knutson has coached various AAU teams for both the Sacred Hoops and Tusweca AAU programs including 17u, 16u, 15u, and 14u boys teams. Before Coaching at the High School level, Knutson spent 3 seasons as a Student Assistant Coach at Black Hills State University assisting in all program aspects including scouting, practice and game management, and film breakdown.Â
James is from Red Shirt, SD and has one son Jhett, 3, who resides in Pierre, SD.
