Joe Coleman enters his second season as the Assistant Coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Mount Marty University. With a diverse background in sports management, coaching, and athletic operations, Coleman brings a unique and valuable perspective to the Lancer soccer programs.
A graduate of Troy University with a degree in Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management, Coleman has gained extensive experience in various athletic roles. Before joining Mount Marty, he worked as a Film Assistant for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Women’s Soccer team, where he supported coaching operations through video analysis and drone footage. He also served as an Athletic Facilities Technician at UAB, ensuring seamless execution of sporting events and maintaining professional standards.
Coleman’s coaching career began with Soccer Shots, where he introduced fundamental skills to young players, sparking his passion for player development. His ability to connect with athletes of all levels has been a hallmark of his coaching style.
“I am proud and excited to be a part of the soccer family at Mount Marty University,” said Coleman. “It’s an honor to contribute to the growth of both programs and help our student-athletes reach their potential.”
In addition to his coaching credentials, Coleman has experience in event management, communication, and social media, and is a former student-athlete with the Troy University Rugby Football Club. His time in the United States Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) helped shape his leadership, discipline, and team-first mindset.
Coleman’s multifaceted experience and passion for the game continue to make a positive impact on the Lancer soccer programs as they work to build a competitive presence within the GPAC.
