Coach Fischer who recently retired as MMU Cross Country and Track Coach moves into a new role. He will help with being a volunteer coach for cross country. Coach Fischer ran successfully at the high school and college levels. In high school he was a first place state track meet finisher and broke the state meet two mile record. At SDSU he achieved All-American status in the steeplechase and went on to qualify for the Olympic Trials marathon in Buffalo, NY, and competed there in 1980. Prior to his time at Mount Marty College, Coach Fischer was an assistant coach at Dakota State University and coached at McCook Central High School in Salem, SD and West Sioux High School in Hawarden, IA.
