Kayla Harris
Assistant Volleyball Coach – 1st Season
Mount Marty University
Kayla Harris joins the Mount Marty University volleyball staff as Assistant Coach for the 2025 season, bringing with her a strong background as both a collegiate athlete and a proven leader in player development. A graduate of Morningside University, Harris is well-versed in the competitive demands of the GPAC and is eager to contribute to the continued growth of the Lancer volleyball program.
As a three-year varsity starter at Morningside, Harris helped lead her team to consecutive NAIA Volleyball National Championship Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019, while setting multiple school records. Her experience as a standout GPAC player gives her unique insight into the conference and the level of preparation required for success.
Prior to joining Mount Marty, Harris served as the head volleyball coach at Vermillion High School, and coached club teams across various age levels for SUX Premier and MVP United. Her coaching style emphasizes discipline, energy, and a positive team culture—hallmarks of her approach to building competitive and cohesive squads.
“Kayla’s energy, experience, and dedication to player development will make an immediate impact,” said Head Coach Sophia Lobo Paes. “She was a great player in the GPAC, and we’re excited to have her insight and leadership on our staff.”
In addition to her coaching roles, Harris has worked in sports performance training, specializing in strength, agility, and volleyball-specific skill development. Her well-rounded experience ensures a holistic approach to athlete growth and performance.
“I am super excited to be joining the Mount Marty volleyball program,” said Harris. “This athletic department truly supports its athletes and staff. I’m looking forward to getting started with Coach Lobo Paes and building on the strong foundation already in place.”
Harris brings passion, knowledge, and a competitive edge to the Lancers as they gear up for an exciting season ahead.
