Mount Marty University proudly welcomes Olympic silver medalist Aída Román as the head coach of its archery program, entering her second season leading the Lancer archers. Román brings exceptional international experience and a history of competitive excellence to Mount Marty’s growing program.
Román earned a historic silver medal in the women’s individual archery event at the 2012 London Olympics, marking a significant milestone for Mexico in the sport. She is also a former Women’s World Indoor Archery Champion (2014) and has achieved podium finishes at the World Archery Championships, Archery World Cup, and Pan American Games. Her decorated career highlights her dedication and mastery of archery on the world stage.
Her passion for archery began at age 10, inspired by accompanying her father to an archery course. Throughout her career, Román has emphasized the importance of the coach-athlete relationship, valuing guidance and progress monitoring as key to athlete development.
In her role at Mount Marty, Román focuses on advancing athlete skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting archery within both the university and the wider community. Her leadership and expertise are vital to growing the Lancer archery program.
