Jose De Araujo enters his first season as the Graduate Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Mount Marty University, transitioning seamlessly from a standout playing career with the Lancers into avleadership role on the coaching staff.
A Cornerstone of Lancer History
A four-year veteran of the program, De Araujo was a mainstay in the Mount Marty midfield fromv2022 through 2025. Originally from Orlando, Florida, where he starred at Boone High School, hevbrought a high work rate, tactical intelligence, and a competitive edge to the Lancers' rostervthroughout his collegiate career.vHis senior campaign proved to be his most impactful. Under Head Coach Sheldon Spelman, DevAraujo played a pivotal, anchoring role in the midfield during the Lancers' historic run. His contributions on the pitch were vital in securing: The program’s 4th-ever postseason appearance and a historic journey to its first-ever semifinal appearance. An exemplary model of the modern student-athlete, De Araujo set the standard for the program both on the field and in the classroom. As a team leader, his work ethic and academic discipline helped anchor a roster that achieved elite national recognition—finishing tied for 10th in the country with a phenomenal 3.49 Team GPA and earning NAIA Scholar Team honors. Transition to the Sidelines In his new role as Graduate Assistant, De Araujo leverages his extensive, firsthand knowledge of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and his strong bonds with the current roster to spearhead player development, tactical scouting, and daily training operations. His deep understanding of the program's newly established, character-driven culture makes him an invaluable asset to Coach Spelman's staff as the Lancers push for even greater heights in Year 2.
