Mount Marty hosted the Red Raiders of Northwestern on Wednesday night. The Lancers lost to the Red Raiders 89-64. Mount Marty is now 7-12 overall and 3-8 in GPAC play. Northwestern is now 13-4 overall and 6-3 in GPAC play.

Mount Marty got the first basket in the game on Wednesday night. Northwestern was able to go on a 9-0 run after that, Mount Marty called a timeout with 16 minutes left in the half. Mount Marty was within 3 points towards the end of the half when Northwestern went on a 11-0 run to take a 42-28 lead at halftime. In the second half the Lancers fought their way back into the game numerous times and cutting the lead to single digits multiple times. With five minutes of play left both teams went more then two minutes without a basket until Lincoln Jordre made a free throw to cut the lead to six with three minutes left in the game. While Northwestern continued its cold streak Cole Bowen drove to the basket to make a lay up to bring the Lancers within four with a minute thirty left as Authier called a timeout. After a few fouls and free throws from Northwestern Tash Lunday drilled an and one three and completed the four point play to bring the game to one. Northwestern made both free throws and the Lancers had one more shot to put the game into overtime but the shot bounced off the rim letting the Red Raiders escape Cimpl with the win.
In the game, Mount Marty had 6 bench points, 10 fast break points, 13 points off of turnovers, 6-second chance points, and 34 points in the paint. The Lancers were 28-65 from the field shooting 43.1% as a team. From the three-point line, the Lancers were 8-21 shooting 38.1%. At the free throw line, the Lancers were 9-17. Mount Marty had 13 assists as a team, with 1 block and 6 steals.
Tash Lunday led the Lancers in scoring with 19 points and added 8 rebounds.
Lincoln Jordre had 12 points and added 4 rebounds.
Cole Bowen had 16 points and added 8 rebounds himself.
Kade Stearns and
Josh Arlt each had 10 points for Mount Marty.
Caden Casey added 6 points off the bench.

Mount Marty will go on a two game road trip. On Sunday Jan. 15th the Lancers will travel to Mitchell, SD to square off with Dakota Wesleyan tipping off at 3:45 PM. On Jan. 18th the Lancers will travel to Fremont, NE to face Midland University tipping off at 7:45 PM.
