Lancers Complete Season Sweep Over the Warriors

Fremont, NE – Mount Marty traveled down to Fremont, Neb. to take on the Midland Warriors in a GPAC contest. The Lancers won this game with a final score of 63-55. This win over Midland completes the season sweep for the Lancers. MMU's overall record moves to 6-14 and is now 3-11 in conference play.

The Lancers started this game off with an 11-point run over the Warriors. Sidney Thue put up five of those points within the first two minutes of play with two layups and one made free throw. Midland's first point was made with 7:25 left in the first quarter after Sarah Shepard made her free throws. 

Despite a slow start for the Warriors, they took their first and only lead of the game with under a minute left in the first quarter. The Lancers were able to take the lead before the end of the quarter. The largest lead for MMU was 14 points, which happened in the 4th quarter.

Mount Marty led Midland in most categories, outrebounding them 40-16, outsourcing them on turnovers 17-16, and rounding up more assists 15-12. Both teams had six steals and three blocks in the game.

Kaela Martinez led the team by putting up 20 points. This is Martinez's seventh game putting up a double-digit score, and her third time this season hitting 20+. Emma Jarovski tied her career high in tonight's game by putting up 18 points. She hit her career high in the second game this season against Waldorf University.

Mount Marty will be back home this Saturday, where they will be hosting Morningside University in a conference matchup. Game time is set for 2:00 PM with Men to follow. There will be a live stream for these games, which can be found on YouTube at Mount Marty Sports Network.
