Women's Basketball: Lancers Fall To #4 Dordt

Sioux Center, IA-

Mount Marty was on the road for their conference opener on Wednesday night. The Lancers lost 52-80 on the night and are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in GPAC play.

First Quarter (10-27): Mount Marty struggled to find their rhythm offensively in the opening quarter. Facing a solid defense from Dordt, they were held to only 10 points. Dordt's Macy Sievers was instrumental in building the lead, hitting five three-pointers to give her team a commanding 17-point advantage.

Second Quarter (11-15, Halftime 21-42): Mount Marty showed slight improvement in the second quarter but still faced challenges in penetrating Dordt's defense. They managed to score 11 points, with Jaydn Jensen leading the offensive charge. However, Dordt continued their dominance, extending their lead to 21 points by halftime.

Third Quarter (13-29, Total 34-71): Dordt's offense remained relentless in the third quarter, while Mount Marty struggled defensively against their opponent's scoring prowess. Despite efforts from Sidney Thue and Kaela Martinez, Mount Marty couldn't contain Dordt, resulting in a 29-point deficit at the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter (18-9, Final 52-80): Mount Marty exhibited a better offensive display in the final quarter, scoring 18 points, but it wasn't enough to overturn the substantial lead established by Dordt. Though Briona Jensen contributed well, they couldn't bridge the gap, and the game concluded with a final score of 52-80 in favor of Dordt.

Dordt displayed a more efficient shooting performance with a higher field goal percentage (43.8%) and three-point accuracy (36.4%) compared to Mount Marty, who shot at 38.8% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc. Dordt dominated the rebounding game, securing 16 offensive rebounds and a total of 42 rebounds, while Mount Marty managed 27 rebounds overall. However, Mount Marty struggled with turnovers, committing 24 compared to Dordt's 16, impacting their offensive rhythm throughout the game.
