Baseball: Lancers Split On Sunday Take The Series 3-1

Omaha, NE--

Mount Marty wrapped up its season opener vs Mount Mercy on Sunday afternoon. Mount Marty split with Mount Mercy on the day, in game one the Lancers won 4-0, game two Mount Mercy won 5-0. The Lancers are 3-1 overall on the season. 

Inside the Games
Mount Marty defeated Mount Mercy University 4-0 on Sunday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Zane Pollon induced a groundout from #15 to finish off the game.

The Lancers fired up the offense in the first inning.  Kiko Nunez drove in one when Nunez singled.

One bright spot for Mount Mercy University was a double by #8 in the fourth inning.

Chris Rofe was the winning pitcher, Rofe surrendered zero runs on one hit over six innings, striking out seven and walking zero.  Pollon threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Ethan Wishon, Billy Hancock, Caid Koletzky, Will Gardner, and Nunez each collected one hit to lead the Lancers.  Mount Marty was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Hancock made the most plays with seven.

Game Two

Mount Marty watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-0 loss to Mount Mercy University on Sunday.  Mount Mercy University took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Myles Brown toed the rubber, Brown allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four.  Caden Eymann, Aspen Dahl, and Heston Williams each contributed in relief for the Lancers

Mount Marty is scheduled to travel down to Texas this weekend. Mount Marty will play Tabor College at 10 AM on February 17th. The Lancers will then play SAGU at 12:45 PM the same day. On February 18th the Lancers will play SAGU at 12:45 PM and Tabor College at 3:45 PM.
