Mount Marty concluded its series against Valley City State on Sunday afternoon. The Lancers were able to complete the three game sweep over the Vikings winning Sunday 9-3 in a nine inning game. Mount Marty is now 9-2 on the season.Â

Mount Marty defeated Valley City State 9-3 on Sunday thanks to a timely five runs in a big sixth inning. Â The big inning was thanks to singles by
Braeden Cordes and
Billy Hancock and an error on a ball put in play by
Kiko Nunez.
MMU knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the second inning, when
Evan Bock's sac fly scored one run for the Lancers
Mount Marty took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning. Â In the fifth #12's wild pitch allowed two runs to score.
Mount Marty put up five runs in the sixth inning. Â The offensive onslaught came from singles by Cordes and Hancock and an error on a ball put in play by Nunez.
Clayton Chipchase was credited with the victory, the pitcher surrendered three runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero. Â
Heston Williams,
Zane Pollon, and
Aspen Dahl all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
The Lancers collected nine hits on the day.  Bock and
Ethan Wishon all managed multiple hits, Wishon and Bock each collected two hits to lead MMU.

The Lancers will travel to Atkinson, KS where they will play a four game set against Benedictine College next weekend. The Lancers will play the Ravens next Saturday and Sunday. This will be the second time in three years the Lancers will play BC.Â
