Baseball: Lancers Split On Sunday With BC; Win Series 3-1

Atchison, KS--

Mount Marty wrapped up its series with the Ravens on Sunday. BC won the first game 4-3. Mount Marty bounced back in the second game winning 6-4. The Lancers are now 12-3 on the season. 

Game One

Mount Marty fell 4-3 to Benedictine College on Sunday despite out-hitting them eight to three.

The Lancers opened up scoring in the second inning.  William Johnson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Jett Hasegawa was on the mound, The righty went six innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out nine.

Mount Marty tallied one home run on the day. Ethan Wishon went for the long ball in the fourth inning.

The Lancers scattered eight hits in the game.  Braeden Cordes, Johnson, and Bodi Wallar each managed multiple hits for MMU.  Wallar, Johnson, and Cordes each managed two hits to lead the Lancers.  Mount Marty was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Billy Hancock made the most plays with  ten.

Game Two

Mount Marty scores more runs than Benedictine College, takes victory on Sunday to the tune of  6-4

Benedictine College opened up scoring in the second inning.  Benedictine College scored two runs when #42 doubled.

Jared Miller took the win for MMU, he righthander went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.  Heston Williams, Noah McCandless, and Zane Pollon all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

#12 started the game for Benedictine College. undefined allowed five hits and four runs over four and a third innings, striking out four.  #30, #60, and #25 each contributed in relief for Benedictine College.

The Lancers smacked two home runs on the day. Billy Hancock went deep in the third inning. Kiko Nunez had a long ball in the sixth inning.

MMU totaled seven hits.  Nunez and Zane Salley each managed multiple hits to lead the Lancers.

Up Next 

Mount Marty will travel to Minnesota to play a double header with Waldorf College. The Lancers will play at 10:30 AM in US Bank Stadium which is home to the Minnesota Vikings. Mount Marty will try and have a livestream on our Youtube channel Mount Marty Sports Network.
