FREMONT, Neb. -- Mount Marty traveled down to Fremont, Neb. to take on (RV) Midland University in a GPAC contest. The Lancers dropped both games to the Warriors with the scores being 10-4 and 3-2. The Lancers are now 15-16 overall and 8-8 in conference play.
Game 1, L 10-4
Midland was able to build 6-0 lead over the Lancers after the first three innings, with three runs coming from home runs. Mount Marty took two runs back in the the top of the fourth inning with a homerun from both
Autumn Porter and
Abigail Page. The Warriors added four more runs in the fifth and sixth inning. The Lancers added one run in both the sixth and seventh inning. The run in the sixth happened on Page's double. The run in the seventh happened with
Bailey Kortan's single to right field. The final score was 10-4.Â
Makayla Graunke started the game and is credited with the loss after throwing the first two innings.
Madison Kovar and
Hannah Keith both made an appearance in the first game.Â
Abby Page went 2-for-3, with 2 RBIs to lead the team.Â
Game 2, L 3-2
Midland took the a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. MMU was able to tie it 1-1 on
Elisabeth McGill's single to center field to score
Sydney Kotz. The Lancers were able to grab a 2-1 lead after
Janeah Castro grounded out short stop to score
Sarah Hart. Midland tied it back up in the bottom of the sixth and won on a walk off single to center field.Â
McKenzie Gray threw the complete game and takes the loss. Gray had two strikeouts and gave up two earned runs on five hits.Â
Castro led the team with two hits and 1 RBI in the game.
