Mount Marty had its final road series of the year on Monday night. The Lancers won both games 5-4 against Dordt University. Mount Marty is now 15-9 in the GPAC and 32-13 overall.Â
Game One
Mount Marty snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Dordt University on Monday. Â The game was tied at two with the Lancers batting in the top of the tenth when
William Johnson singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Mount Marty got things started in the first inning when
Bodi Wallar singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Myles Brown was on the hill for the Lancers the righthander allowed three hits and two runs over nine innings, striking out 13 and walking zero.
MMU launched one home run on the day.
Caid Koletzky had a dinger in the tenth inning.
Mount Marty racked up 11 hits. Â
Braeden Cordes,
Billy Hancock, Wallar, and
Ethan Wishon all collected multiple hits for MMU. Â Wishon, Wallar, Hancock, and Cordes each collected two hits to lead MMU.
Game Two
The Lancers got out to a four-run lead in the fourth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Dordt University on Monday. Â Dordt University managed three runs in the failed comeback. #10 and #23 powered the rally with RBIs.
Dordt University got things moving in the first inning, when
Clayton Chipchase's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Dordt University.
Mount Marty knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning. Â
Bodi Wallar hit a solo homer.
The Lancers pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. Â In the fourth
Zane Salley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run,
Kiko Nunez singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and
Ethan Wishon's sac fly scored one run for MMU.
Chipchase was credited with the victory for the Mount, the pitcher surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Â
Heston Williams threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Â Williams recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Mount Marty.Â
#24 took the loss for Dordt University. The hurler lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one.
The Lancers socked one home run on the day. Wallar had a four bagger in the second inning.
Wallar went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead MMUÂ in hits. Â MMUÂ was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
Billy Hancock made the most plays with  nine.
