Mount Marty set a school record with 36 regular season win on Saturday. The Lancers swept Hastings to accomplish this feat. Mount Marty won 4-2 in game one and 12-5 in game two. Mount Marty finished the regular season 36-13 overall and 19-9 in GPAC play. The Lancer pitching staff also set a school record with 401 strike outs on the season.Â
Game One
Mount Marty wins contest against Hastings College on Saturday, Â 4-2
In the first inning, Hastings College got their offense started. Â #9 singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
The Lancers knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when
Bodi Wallar's sac fly scored one run for MMU.
The Lancers pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. Â In the third
Billy Hancock hit a solo homer and
Kiko Nunez homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Chris Rofe got the win and went four innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out three. Â
Myles Brown and
Noah McCandless entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
#31 was on the mound for Hastings College. undefined allowed six hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Â #26 threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Mount Marty smacked two home runs on the day. Hancock went yard in the third inning. Nunez went for the long ball in the third inning.
The Lancers tallied seven hits in the game. Â
Zane Salley and Hancock each collected multiple hits for MMU.  Salley led 2023 MMU with three hits in three at bats.
Game Two
The Lancers blew out Hastings College 12-5 on Saturday.
Mount Marty took an early lead in the first inning. Â
Kiko Nunez grounded out into a double play, scoring one run.
In the top of the second inning, Hastings College tied things up at two when
Jared Miller induced #4 to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
MMU took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. Â In the fourth
Caid Koletzky homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs,
Ethan Wishon singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run,
Billy Hancock singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Nunez doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Miller got the start and went three and a third innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out three.
#18 led things off on the mound for Hastings College. The hurler went eight innings, allowing 12 runs on 13 hits and striking out six.
The Lancers launched two home runs on the day.
Kalub Ramirez went yard in the eighth inning. Koletzky went for the long ball in the fourth inning.
Mount Marty racked up 13 hits on the day. Â Nunez,
Braeden Cordes, and Hancock each collected multiple hits for MMU.  Hancock, Cordes, and Nunez each collected two hits to lead the Lancers.  Mount Marty was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Hancock made the most plays with 12.

The Lancers will head to Crete, NE for the GPAC tournament. The Lancers will face Jamestown on Thursday afternoon. Doane and Briar Cliff are the other two teams in the four team pod. The winner of that pod will play the winner of the Concordia pod.
