The Lancer cross country teams competed at the Briar Cliff Invitational in North Sioux City, SD at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve.
The Lancer men finished 5th out of 8 teams scoring 124 points. Senior Logan Ferrari turned in the top performance for the Lancers on the 8k course (25:31.50) en route to a 3rd-place finish. Ferrari beat Brian Santiago's school and senior record time of 26:28.70 by almost 1 minute. Santiago (26:12.60) also competed in the race and finished 4th. Freshman Joseph Cross also had a record-setting performance by setting a new Mount Marty freshman course record (26:15.10) en route to a 5th-place finish. Cross demolished Tague Tvedt's record of 28:03.93 by nearly 2 minutes.
Four additional athletes represented the Lancer men in the race. Junior Tague Tvedt (30:07.60) finished in 60th place, freshman Zaelyn Varner (30:41.90) finished in 63rd place, junior David Phillips (34:22.90) finished in 84th place, and sophomore Alan Santiago (34:55.50) finished in 87th place.
Four Lancers competed in the women's 6k race. The top Lancer was freshman Isabella Ramsgard (25:42.80) with her 39th-place finish. Sophomore Alexis Gosch (26:30.80) finished 51st, freshman Rachel Erk (31:19.60) finished 81st, and sophomore Josey Wahlstrom (32:20.10) finished 83rd.
The Lancers will compete next at home at the Mount Marty Cross Country Invitational at the Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, SD on October 24. The meet will begin at 4:40 p.m.
