Lancers Open Season Under the Lights at Augustana Twilight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Mount Marty men's and women's cross country teams kicked off their 2025 season at the always-competitive Augustana Twilight Meet Friday evening at Yankton Trail Park. Racing under the lights against NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA programs, the Lancers gained valuable early-season experience.

Men's 4-Mile

Junior Joseph Cross led the Lancers with a strong run, clocking 19:59.96 to place 53rd overall in a field of more than 300 runners. Senior Tague Tvedt followed in 21:54.15, while Zaelyn Varner crossed in 22:49.41. The Lancers' men showed good pack running early in the season and will look to tighten their gaps in upcoming meets.

Women's 5K

On the women's side, Lilly Whiteshirt was the top Lancer finisher, running 20:08.31. She was closely followed by Alexis Gosch at 20:19.21, giving Mount Marty two runners inside the top half of the field. The meet featured a deep field of NCAA Division I contenders, providing a strong test for the Lancer women's squad.
