Baseball: Lancers Go 4-0 Against Mayville State

Mount Marty was able to complete their first four game sweep of the season over Mayville State. The Lancers are now 9-3 on the season and Mayville State is 2-9 on the season. 

Game One

Mount Marty Dominates Mayville State with 12-2 Victory

In a commanding performance, Mount Marty baseball cruised to a 12-2 win over Mayville State.

Mount Marty wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring three runs in the first inning. Will Gardner led the charge with a double, while Evan Bock and Ryan Bachman also contributed to the early offensive onslaught. They continued to pile on the runs, scoring in each of the first four innings to build a substantial lead.

Jared Miller delivered an outstanding pitching performance for Mount Marty, throwing four scoreless innings and striking out eight batters. He was supported by solid relief efforts from Myles Brown, Danny Mosarah, and Jay Neugebauer.

Offensively, Mount Marty showcased their depth with contributions from multiple players. Gardner, Bodi Wallar, and Ethan Wishon led the way with multiple hits and RBIs, while Vaughn Deming capped off the scoring with a three-run homer in the sixth inning.

Game Two

Mount Marty Secures Convincing 8-1 Victory over Mayville State

Mount Marty continued their winning streak with an impressive 8-1 victory over Mayville State.

The game started with Mayville State taking an early lead in the first inning with Riley Rankin's solo home run. However, Mount Marty quickly responded, tying the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning.

Mount Marty then took control of the game in the third inning, exploding for five runs. Will Gardner led the offensive charge with a double that drove in two runs. Ryan Bachman followed up with a two-run homer, extending Mount Marty's lead. Vaughn Deming also contributed with an RBI.

The Mount Marty pitchers did an excellent job containing Mayville State's offense. Noah McCandless delivered a strong performance on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out an impressive 11 batters. He was supported by solid relief efforts from Cade Sudbeck and Shane Miller.

Offensively, Mount Marty's bats came alive, with Gardner, Bachman, and Bodi Wallar leading the way. Gardner had a key double and scored twice, while Bachman's home run provided a significant boost to the team's run production.

Game Three

Mount Marty Shuts Out Mayville State 8-0

In a dominating performance, Mount Marty secured an 8-0 victory over Mayville State.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Mount Marty's offense came alive. Shugo Kondo got things started with a walk, bringing in the first run of the game. In the fourth inning, Mount Marty exploded for seven runs, highlighted by Bodi Wallar's two-run homer and RBI singles from Joe Gokie and Will Gardner. Mount Marty's offense capitalized on opportunities, scoring runs in various ways, including sacrifice flies and walks.

Mount Marty's pitching staff also played a crucial role in the victory, with starter Slayder Watterson delivering an outstanding performance. Watterson pitched five scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out nine batters. He was supported by solid relief efforts from Caden Eymann and Clayton Chipchase, who combined to close out the game without allowing any runs.

On the defensive side, Mount Marty's players executed well, limiting Mayville State to just one hit in the entire game.

Game Four 

Mount Marty Mounts Comeback to Defeat Mayville State 8-7

In a thrilling matchup, Mount Marty staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Mayville State with a final score of 8-7.

Mayville State took an early lead in the second inning, scoring seven runs powered by Chris Shopbell's grand slam. The offense capitalized on opportunities, with Teigen Parenteau and Tanner Boyle also contributing RBIs.

However, Mount Marty refused to back down. In the fourth inning, Aidan Chang's double brought in the first run for Mount Marty. They continued to chip away at the lead, with Ryan Bachman's RBI double in the fifth inning narrowing the gap. Mount Marty's offense exploded in the sixth inning, highlighted by Ethan Wishon's three-run double and Joe Gokie's RBI single, giving them the lead for the first time in the game.

On the defensive side, Mount Marty's pitchers Zach Hegge, Zane Pollon, and Aspen Dahl held Mayville State's offense at bay in the later innings, allowing no further runs after the second inning.

Despite Mayville State's strong start, Mount Marty's resilience and late-game offensive surge secured them the victory.
