Mount Marty swept in state rival DWU on Tuesday. The Lancers are now 9-11 on the season and 2-0 in the GPAC. 

Game One
 

Mount Marty Secures Thrilling Win Over Dakota Wesleyan, 8-7

In a closely contested matchup, Mount Marty emerged victorious over Dakota Wesleyan with a final score of 8-7. The game was filled with back-and-forth action, with both teams showcasing their offensive capabilities.

Mount Marty took an early lead in the first inning when Olivia Valdez's RBI single brought Autumn Porter home, giving them a 1-0 advantage. Dakota Wesleyan responded in the second inning with Deanna Davidson's RBI single, tying the game at 1-1.

The third inning saw Mount Marty capitalize on defensive errors, scoring three unearned runs. Valdez reached base on an error, allowing Porter and Kayleen Jacinto to score. Reese Peterson then reached on another error, bringing Valdez home and extending Mount Marty's lead to 4-1.

Dakota Wesleyan fought back in the fourth inning, with Davidson's sacrifice fly and RBI singles from Kaylie Mathiasen and Reagan Grossi knotting the score at 4-4.

Mount Marty regained the lead in the fifth inning when Janeah Castro's RBI single brought home Peterson, putting them ahead 5-4. However, Dakota Wesleyan rallied in the seventh inning, scoring three runs highlighted by Peyton Bagley's two-run triple, giving them a 7-5 lead.

Not to be outdone, Mount Marty mounted a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Peterson's two-run triple tied the game at 7-7, and Adrian Schoby's sacrifice fly brought in the winning run as Ella Ray crossed the plate, securing the thrilling victory for Mount Marty.

Both teams displayed resilience and determination throughout the game, making it an exciting contest for players and fans alike. Ultimately, Mount Marty's late-game heroics proved decisive, clinching the hard-fought win.


Game Two
 

Mount Marty Dominates Dakota Wesleyan in 11-3 Victory

Mount Marty showcased an impressive offensive display in their 11-3 victory over Dakota Wesleyan. The game saw Mount Marty's hitters capitalizing on scoring opportunities while their pitchers held Dakota Wesleyan's offense in check.

Mount Marty took an early lead in the first inning when Olivia Valdez's RBI single brought Autumn Porter home, giving them a 1-0 advantage.

In the second inning, Mount Marty's offense exploded, led by Kayleen Jacinto's three-run triple, scoring Abby Johnson, Raegan Harper, and pinch runner Ella McNew. Another run came in as Porter reached on an error, allowing Jacinto to score. Valdez added another RBI single, extending Mount Marty's lead to 6-0.

Dakota Wesleyan managed to score two runs in the third inning, with Reagan Grossi's RBI single and a wild pitch allowing McKinnely Mull and Grossi to score, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

Mount Marty added another run in the fourth inning when Valdez hit an RBI triple, bringing Porter home, making it 7-2.

Dakota Wesleyan scored again in the fifth inning on Eden Heggemeyer's RBI single, but Mount Marty responded strongly in the bottom half of the inning. Brooklyn Townsend's RBI double, followed by Elisabeth McGill's RBI groundout, and Porter's RBI double extended Mount Marty's lead to 10-3.

Mount Marty added one more run in the sixth inning when Adrian Schoby's RBI double brought home Ella Ray, sealing the 11-3 victory.

On the pitching side, Mount Marty's Makayla Graunke and Jacey Hayen combined to limit Dakota Wesleyan to just three runs on nine hits, securing the convincing win.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by Mount Marty, both offensively and defensively, as they improved their record to 9-11, maintaining their undefeated conference record.
