Mount Marty secured an 8-3 victory over Northwestern (Iowa) in a well-contested game.
Northwestern took an early lead, scoring one run in the second inning when Isaac Short singled, driving in Mason Porepp. They added another run in the third inning as Mo Watson's single brought in Luke Wroblewski.
Mount Marty responded strongly in the fifth inning, scoring eight runs to take control of the game. Aidan Chang got them on the board with a double, bringing in Joe Gokie. Will Gardner followed with a double of his own, bringing in William Johnson to tie the game at 2-2. Mount Marty continued to pile on the runs with RBI hits from Bodi Wallar, Shugo Kondo, and Ethan Wishon. Gardner also drew a walk with the bases loaded, contributing to Mount Marty's 8-2 lead.
Northwestern managed to score one more run in the seventh inning when Watson singled, bringing in Drew Dykstra, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.
Zach Hegge earned the win for Mount Marty, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing one run on three hits. Dylan Kirkeby took the loss for Northwestern, giving up six runs in 4.1 innings.
With this win, Mount Marty improved their record to 15-7, while Northwestern fell to 9-11.

In an intense matchup that went into extra innings, Northwestern (Iowa) emerged victorious over Mount Marty with a final score of 5-3.
The game started with a bang as Luke Wroblewski of Northwestern hammered a solo home run in the first inning, giving his team an early lead.
Mount Marty responded in the third inning when Aidan Chang hit a solo home run of his own, tying the game at 1-1. The score remained deadlocked until the sixth inning when Kiko Nunez's solo homer put Mount Marty ahead 2-1.
Northwestern fought back in the eighth inning, tying the game at 2-2 when Drew Dykstra scored on a wild pitch.
The game remained tied until the 11th inning when Northwestern exploded for three runs. Ranier Castillo drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing in Jack Craig to break the tie. Then, Isaac Short delivered a clutch double, driving in Mason Porepp and Ethan Buckner to extend Northwestern's lead to 5-2.
Mount Marty managed to respond with a solo home run by Bodi Wallar in the bottom of the 11th inning, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.
Jakeb Swallow earned the win for Northwestern, pitching four solid innings and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four. Aspen Dahl took the loss for Mount Marty after giving up three runs in 2.1 innings of relief.
With this win, Northwestern improved their record to 11-11, while Mount Marty fell to 15-9 on the season.
